"Every element of copy has just one purpose—to get the next sentence read."
Words are important to convey a message, words can be powerful and strong - but only if someone hears or reads them. And to make someone read a text, you need something to capture the attention of the reader first. That can be done with a catchy headline, but it's also the job for an illustration - wether it's on a sign in a shoe store, in a magazine or on a website. The purpose of an illustration is also to add information, enlighten and clarify a message. Or - to simply be just decorative as a piece of art.
I use multiple medias and techniques when I create my illustrations. Analog with alcohol based markers, ink, fineliners and water color. Digital using Illustrator and Photoshop. And a combination of both of course.
