I love making my own mockups for visualizing patterns in my portfolio and other places where I share my work (like here). It makes it so much more personal, knowing that that is our spare bed, the white wall in our upstairs living room and the sheet is an old linen curtain 😂. I don't do any fancy mockups at all, just schedule a photoshoot, gathering all kinds of props from my house and make a big mess (that is not as fun to clean up afterwards as the styling part). Then I edit the image in Photoshop, add my patterns using a mask and voila! A pattern that comes alive. You can read more and watch a video about my "mockuping"-process on my blog if you are curious.

When I make a Toile de Jouy pattern I start by deciding on a theme, then coming up with a handfull of scenes within the theme and then I draw those scenes that later will make up the motifs of the pattern. Making a Toile pattern takes a bit of patience but it’s so rewarding when you test that repeat for the first time. If you’re curious about how to make a Toile de Jouy pattern yourself check out my Skillshare class on this pattern style. In class I also give you the history behind this classic pattern design. Read more about the class and other on my website, link in bio. Oh, and this is my #starrynight contribution for the #bringspring_challenge ✨✨✨How’s it going for you guys participating? Are you evoking some spring feelings? 🌸
Cutting, cutting, cutting. Adding a new pattern collection to my portfolio 🔪📕

Check the link in my bio and on my blog you can read more about the challenge. 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸

Having some afternoon fun & therapy with filling in my new Copic Hex Chart by @sandyallnock. So far I can conclude that I have a few reds and a few blue-violets that are a bit too visually alike.
